    Where They Come From

Developed by the Chukchi people of north-eastern Siberia to pull sleds over long distances.

Brought to Alaska in the early 20th century for sled racing.

    Daily Reality

    • Needs a lot of running and exercise
    • Sheds heavily twice a year
    • Struggles in Portuguese summer heat

Walk in the coolest hours and never shave the coat.

    Who This Breed Suits

    • Very active owners.
    • Homes with secure fencing.
    • Cooler climates or air-conditioned homes.

Not ideal for hot homes, small spaces or off-lead walks.

    Health Considerations

    May be predisposed to:

    • Eye conditions
    • Hip dysplasia
    • Hypothyroidism

Heat management matters as much as exercise.
